That’s the challenge violinist Asher Laub and singer-songwriter Porter Singer tackle with their latest single, “Subtle Pulse.” It’s a huge task, but we’re interested in how they handle it.
First, Asher Laub’s talent and finesse around the violin instantly strike us, a key element in making the song’s soaring feeling work. Porter Singers’s vocals and writing can’t be understated either, as they do a lot of heavy lifting in enhancing the song’s atmosphere. It’s phenomenal how the singing gently guides the listener through different phases of the single. There’s a sense of calm and relaxation as she sings, leading to plenty of buildup toward the song’s massive drop.
The writing is simple, but it gets the point across incredibly well and matches up perfectly with the sound the single is going for. Calm, soothing melodies that slowly build drops that stick in your head are always welcome to us, and this one’s excellent. We genuinely do believe that Asher Laub and Porter Singer have a winner on their hands with this single.
Overall, “Subtle Pulse” is a fascinating single that’s surprisingly unique and different from most songs in its genre. It blends various elements that you wouldn’t typically find in one song, making it a memorable listening experience that we greatly enjoy. It works shockingly well and accomplishes what it sets out to do with flying colors. We found much to love with this single and are excited to see more from both artists.
