Sean Gill, commonly known on the music scene as Sean Barrelz, is stamping his mark as an influential American artist. Born on March 28, 1986, Barrelz’s Bronx roots have profoundly shaped his music repertoire which is authentically New York, raw, experimental, and eclectic.

Barrelz’s journey to fame has been akin to a rollercoaster ride. After a profound misdiagnosis impacted his motor skills, he faced the tortuous challenge of learning to walk and speak again. In this time of struggle, support was not far away; a familiar face in the form of Fat Joe, the legendary Bronx MC, stood by him and rekindled Barrelz’s passion for music. Cohorts in the industry, including another famous artist’s associate, along with nurses, kept his spirits high during his time in hospital care.

Despite his trials, Barrelz continued to create music. His fans will readily testify to the explosive success of his hit song “Destroy & Rebuild,” featuring none other than Fat Joe. Notably, the song was conceived during Barrelz’s time in the psychiatric ward and recorded later. Though he had envisioned a certain aesthetic for the music video, his ongoing healing process led him to allow others to take the reins for filming and editing the video.

While Barrelz, on all platforms including InstagramTwitterSoundcloudYoutubeApple Music pages, and Spotify, always intrigues fans with his music, they eagerly anticipate his next big release. He recently dropped “Breakfast (Salt-N-Peppa)” and plans to unleash three more singles in the coming months. Beyond the singles, he is keen to make significant strides in the hip-hop/Rhythm American Poetry culture and the music industry.

Barrelz’s discography covers an extensive spectrum of singles and projects, from his EP “B.A.R.R.E.L.Z” (2014) to “L.O.X” (2021) and “Destroy and Rebuild” (2020), and even more to be released in the future. His work reflects his experiences growing up in New York City and the ways he has navigated the challenges life has thrown at him.

Beyond his birth name and stage name, he is also known as Sean G and H.L.N.I.C., iterations of the same artistic persona. Barrelz hopes his art, both the visual and audio, will resonate with listeners and provide them a snapshot of the updated Hip Hop/Rhythm American Poetry emanating from the birthplace of the genre.

Growing up in the troubled 90s era of The Bronx, Barrelz’s early life was far from easy. Despite economic struggles, his experiences shaped his early interest in music, exposing him to the influence of famous tunes from the legendary R&B group Black Ivory (with whom he has also been in the studio with one of the members). Memories of rap battling individuals on his commute home and getting detention for writing lyrics during class reveal his passion for the genre.

Through his lived experiences, his resilience through adversity, and his persistent creative exploration, Sean Barrelz continues to produce music that captivates and resonates with fans around the globe.
